A Family Legacy of Care

Home Sweet Home Care began in 2002, when our founder, Joanie, turned her own experience caring for her parents into a thoughtful, people-first approach to home care. Today, her daughter Megan leads the company with the same commitment: professional care, lasting relationships and support shaped around each person and family.

How It Began

Home Sweet Home Care was founded in 2002 by Joanie, inspired by her own experience caring for her parents, Bill and Dorothy MacDonald. She understood how much families carry when someone needs support—and how difficult it can be to find care that is dependable, respectful and truly responsive.

What began on the North Shore grew through relationships and referrals. Joanie built the company around listening first, matching caregivers thoughtfully and adapting care as each person’s needs changed.

In 2016, her daughter Megan joined the business, bringing her corporate leadership experience and a shared commitment to professional, people-first care. Today, Megan leads Home Sweet Home Care while carrying that original purpose forward.

What Families Say

“Megan Kane and the Home Sweet Home Care staff stepped in at short notice to organize and provide 24 hour care for our mother who suffers from dementia. Megan’s communication was exemplary regarding our mother’s needs and coordination with Vancouver Coastal Health. Her staff were competent and caring, going above and beyond expectations to provide seamless care coverage.”
